Flying to Cleveland Burke
Burke Lakefornt (BKL) is a good choice for a stop. The Rock
& Roll Hall of Fame Museum is literally within walking distance at the end
of the runway. Its a great place to visit for a few hours, and their record
store has an extensive collection of CDs by every musician featured in the
museum. Downtown Cleveland is a few minutes past that, with a good choice of
restaurants and hotels.
Beware, however, when coming in IFR from the west that Cleveland Approach will
vector you over Lake Erie for a landing at BKL. I never fly VFR on that sort of
trip, so I have no idea what the airspace restrictions might be for keeping out
of the controlled airspace for Cleveland Int'l.
Last time I checked, my plane doesn't know when its over water; but your's
might feel differently.
